What is Integrity?

Integrity is important because God will always see you, even when other people don't. And it says in the bible that you must give an account for everything you have done on judgement day. Also, friendships are built on trust, and with trust comes its younger brother integrity.

This essay will explain a few people’s integrity. How they showed it, or how they didn’t. Integrity is basically behaving the same way around everyone. The Pastor, your parents, your girl/boyfriend, your friends, and your work/school mates. Like you know those kids who are super mean, and then an adult comes and they’re really nice? They don’t show integrity. Here are some people who didn’t or did show integrity.

I think that Esther was not showing integrity because she lied about her nationality and that’s dishonest and doesn’t show integrity. She did not tell the king she was a jew even though she should be proud no matter what her race is. Then, when she found out about the plot to kill the jews, she would not go and see the king because she was scared of losing her life. That means that she valued her own life over her family's lives and her race’s and nation’s lives. That’s pretty selfish. Only when Mordecai told her she would die anyway did she go to the king… to arrange a dinner date with him and his trusted advisor, because she was too scared, deciding to do it a few days later.

Job showed a sort of integrity by sticking with God until the very end, and even when God gave Satan the right to punish him, Job still never gave up faith. His ten children all died, along with his livestock and then his crops. But he still held his faith. Satan then inflicted him with horrible sores. Even his wife told him to “curse God and die”. But he still held faith and didn’t give up. And that shows integrity. Even when God took away all that he had and gave him horrible sores and burns, he didn’t change his opinion. And when someone thinks lowly of us because we’re christians, we should just ignore them. Like Job did with his wife and friends.

And my last example would have to be Daniel. Daniel prayed to God, right? And he was the kings favourite. The king’s other officials were jealous and convinced the king to make a law that for the next month, everyone could only worship the king. Daniel found out, yet still prayed to God. People saw him praying to God, and he just kept going. He kept his normal routine even when he would be executed. And we shouldn’t change who we are because someone thinks differently of us.

And so, Job and Daniel showed integrity, while Esther didn’t. Those were some great examples. I think that you should show integrity. Love, faith and hope are great (especially love) but I think integrity and honesty should get fourth and fifth. OK? So act the same wherever you are, and don’t let other people influence your behaviour..

My reflection

 This year was quite an eventful one! We went into lockdown, had a very large amount of trips with whaea Lana, and we have been taught by over 4 teachers! I was quite challenged with Mrs Haggerty, but lockdown was quite nice. I made friends, (Hawaiki and Mikaere) and I lost a couple of which I will not name. I really loved the volleyball tournaments and hope to see more of them in the future. I also really liked tech and hope that my teacher doesn’t take it away. I remember when I was doing some EP, when suddenly I realised I had to do a Zoom meeting! I clicked the link that Matua had sent us, and then I just saw Sarn eating a bag of chips! I was all like, hey, what did I miss? And he said “dude you’re to late, the meeting finished.” It was pretty funny. I’m really looking forward to science next year. I also quite enjoyed my blog and posting to it. It’s pretty cool, so you should check it out.

1. Smoothies can often be very thick; instead of adding juice, as juice has a lot of sugar, add water to make them thinner and ice to make them thicker.

2. Smoothie diets help you lose weight fast, but when going back to a normal diet, the kilograms will start to come back, so you should redo the diet as many times as needed.

3. Some great smoothie recipes include a Pumpkin Shake, a Green Smoothie (mostly spinach), Berry Blaster, Carrot Smoothie, and a Banana Cinnamon.

4. Eat the different smoothies and have a lot of variety in your ingredients.

5. Commit to the diet; don’t try to sneak in some maccas when you think nobodys looking, or you’ll regret it.

• There is a little gate that closes when you eat food, so that your food doesn’t go into your lungs

• Once into the Oesophagus, the food goes through a process known as peristalsis. This is where your stomach muscles squeeze inwards slightly above the ball of food, pushing it downwards.

• Oesophagus acid turns food into little pieces less than 3mm in diameter

• Enter the small intestine, Pancreas and the Liver help break it down.

• Food is mixed with fat and energy and enters the bloodstream, iron and other nutrients taken out of it. The leftovers are then taken to the large intestine, where most of the water is taken out of it.

• A lot of germs and bugs live in the large intestine, which actually eat some of the waste, producing a gas with Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Ammonia. This gas is also known as a fart.

• The poo is then stored in the Rectum, and your brain gets a message telling you that you need to go to the toilet.

Hey, Fatty! This Can Make You Skinny!

This is an argument against eating how much of whatever you want whenever you want.

Eat healthy. You’ve probably heard the phrase. But what does it mean? It can mean a lot of things, including: eat a variety of foods, don’t eat meat, don’t drink cow's milk, and the very popular eat your vegetables. But I want to talk about the people who eat whatever they want and lots of it and expect to be fine. I strongly disagree. 

First of all, eating too much of one thing is never a good thing because foods only hold so many different types of nutrients and vitamins, so eating only one thing can’t be good. To achieve healthiness, you must eat a balance of all foods. Eat more vegetables, lots of meat, more fruit and less dairy, more bread and other grains (not whitebread), and way less lollies.

You should also never eat too much of something because your body can’t really use the excess nutrients. Your body has just extracted the last lot of vitamins when more of the exact same stuff comes along and your body doesn’t really need it, so it just comes out as waste. Also, if you just eat way too much of something, then you're just gonna become overweight. This is going to be a problem later on in life, as fat can cause diabetes, heart disease, and strokes. 

Lastly, eating whatever you want isn’t a good thing because, well, unless you’re Addison of course, you’re not gonna want to eat 3 raw capsicums for dinner. You’re gonna wanna eat a large big mac combo, or a wing bucket from KFC. Nobody wants to eat 3 slices of cucumber, half a tomato, and a leftover salad with mayo for breakfast! (unless you’re vegan) So I’m not saying to never eat anything you like, but you should still regulate. So next time you're queuing in line at Macca’s, remember to ask yourself, ‘would future me do this?’.

My Healthy Letter To Quinn

Dear Quinn

I do not think that you should eat so much white bread. You see, in whole grain bread all parts of the wheat seed are baked into the bread, so it is healthy; but in white bread, the bran has been removed, so that it goes white. The bran is the best part of the grain, so white bread is not good for you. Also, white bread has been processed, and a number of chemicals are added to the bread to make it taste better, last longer, and give you diabetes faster.

You should also eat a large variety of foods, especially foods like meat, eggs, broccoli, tomatoes, spinach, carrots, and garlic. You should also cut back on dairy products like butter, cream, chocolate, and cheese. Milk is ok, but it’s also very reasonable to switch to goats or sheep's milk.

So basically, you should eat lots of food, every single one, in fact (except lollies)  and don’t forget to exercise!

In class, we are exploring integrity. In this thought experiment, we will explore from a biblical perspective.

Dividing Fractions

 Dividing fractions is like multiplying them, but you have to flip the fraction upside down. For example, in the equation 4/3 divided by 2/9, you would flip the 2/9 around so that it's now 9/2. You then multiply the Numerators and Denominators. You then simplify.

Multiplying Fractions!

With Whaea Lana, I learnt to multiply mixed fractions in two ways. In the first, you turn the numbers into an improper fraction, you then multiply the numerators, and then the denominators. In the second way, you just multiply the whole numbers, then the fractions.
